EECO Workshop: It’s None of Your Business (Yes It Is)

November 24, 2013

Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend an AWESOME workshop in San Francisco. This fabulous event was thrown by the amazingly talented ladies, Megan and Emily of Enjoy Events Co. Check them out! The workshop was held at a newer design space in the city called the NWBLK. This is a really cool venue that has a constant rotation of artists, clothing and furniture designers, and has held events for Google and the Nike Women’s Marathon to name a few.  The two day workshop was jam packed full of valuable information all about learning how to start and run your own creative planning + design business.  We were lucky enough to hear from a variety of amazingly talented guest speakers, including the florist Natalie Bowen Brookshire of Natalie Bowen Designs, professional photographer Delbarr Moradi of Delbarr Moradi Photography, Alex from The Magnolia Photo Booth Co, Amanda O’Shannessy from One True Love Vintage Rentals, and Katy Carrier from Law for Creatives.  In true San Francisco style, we traveled by trolley to tour the GORGEOUS Flood Mansion (some really cool history behind this place) which is a really beautiful venue in Pacific Heights with views to die for. The girls of Enjoy Events really took care of us in every way possible.  They provided TONS of useful information, and kept our bellies full with yummy treats from local San Francisco favorites Bi-Rite, Sage Catering, and The Melt food truck even showed up!  (Supporting my grilled cheese addiction.)  Erik from Vantigo wrapped up the weekend, showing up  in Lillie, his restored red Volkswagen bus, named after Lillie Hitchcock who rounded up North Beach bystanders in to get a fire engine up Telegraph Hill to put out a fire in 1858. Erik runs SF tours and charters, and does brewery tours on Highway 1, all out of Lillie (ummm hello, how fun is that!?) and I can’t wait to go on one! I walked away from the workshop feeling nothing less than inspired by all the amazing people I met and their invaluable advice. There is something so motivating about being around people who are chasing their dreams and turning them into reality! THANK YOU again so much Megan and Emily!
